Track Trainer software program shows a driver the best way around a track and can drive the car itself to demonstrate it
This video by drivesTV shows the BMW Track Trainer at work on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in California.
The Track Trainer software is programmed to show the driver the optimal way around a track. As you can see in the video, the highly-sophisticated program can take the wheel itself and actually drive the car through the curves on its own.
The software comes in 3 modes including 'autonomous' whereby the Track Trainer system drives the car alone. A second setting uses lights to signal the driver as to the best turning points. The third mode records the driver's performance and allows for the performance points to be reviewed and used along with coaching from a professional driver.
The BMW Track Trainer vehicle is a modified BMW 330i.
