Plugging into the future
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Tesla announced plans to end Roadster production in December.
While this is a tad peculiar, since the Model S won't be launched until mid-2012, Tesla is confident that they can survive on selling the remaining inventory of Roadsters during their year and a half long production hiatus.
The filing also revealed the company will introduce a Model X concept later this year. Details are limited, but the crossover will "incorporate the functionality of a minivan with the consumer appeal of a sports-utility vehicle." If everything goes according to plan, Tesla will launch a production Model X in 2014.
