Smallest engine in company history
Ford has announced plans to build a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine.
Set to be offered globally, the engine will feature a turbocharger, direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). More importantly, the mill will offer performance that rivals the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine used in the Fiesta. Nothing is official, but this implies an output of approximately 120 hp (89 kW / 122 PS) and 112 lb-ft (152 Nm) of torque.
More information will be released at the Frankfurt Motor Show, so stay tuned for details.
