Porsche Panamera could lose manual gearbox - report

Low take rate cited

The Porsche Panamera is still relatively new, but we've already heard rumors that the next-generation model will underpin the Lamborghini Estoque and several upcoming Bentleys.
Now, Car and Driver is reporting that the redesigned Panamera could lose the manual gearbox option. It remains unclear if this is just for the United States, but the take rate for the six-speed manual has been low enough that it isn't worth offering in future models.
In related news, the magazine says the next-gen Panamera will adopt a new electric power steering system for improved fuel efficiency.
